This is the daily reality I see. And it’s 100% preventable.<\/strong><\/p>\n

What Is Domain Squatting?<\/h3>\n

Domain squatting (also called cybersquatting) is the practice of registering domains\u2014especially brand names, trademarked terms, or valuable keywords\u2014with the intent to sell them at inflated prices to people who actually need them.<\/p>\n

          Real Hostage Situations I’ve Seen<\/h3>\n

          The Restaurant Group<\/strong>: Expanding from 1 location to 5. Squatter owned [TheirBrand][City].com for every city they planned to expand to. Demanded $100,000 for the package. They paid $85,000.<\/p>\n

          The E-commerce Brand<\/strong>: Going international. [TheirBrand].co.uk, .de, .fr, .com.au all owned by squatters. Some selling for $20,000 each. Company had to launch in those countries with different branding.<\/p>\n

          In every single case, entrepreneurs paid 500x-2,500x what prevention would have cost.<\/strong><\/p>\n

            The Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy (UDRP) is supposed to help victims of cybersquatting.<\/p>\n
